POSCO ESM was founded in March, 2012, and has since realized
the vison of ‘Global Top 3 Maker in the field of active materials
for secondary battery used in electric vehicles, IT and mobile devices.

All of us in POSCO ESM are making as much effort as we can to contribute to helping our customers create values through our continuing investment and research and development with the firm pride that we are making an environment-friendly world with the production of secondary battery materials for electric vehicle and mobile devices.

Even though a late starter, we succeeded in mass-production of high-capacity (more than nickel 80%) Gradient-NCM active material first in the world, and now keep pace with world famous active material makers for secondary batter in terms of technological prowess.

Behind such remarkable success are there 50 years of POSCO’s know-how in steel material manufacturing and 20 years of accumulated R&D assets of Research Institute of Industrial Science and Technology (RIST) for new materials such as lithium, nickel, and titanium. If supported with POSCO’s technical achievements (lithium extraction and metal refining -e.g. nickel-), which has stood out lately, we will be able to become the best in the world active materials market for secondary battery through secured supply of raw materials.

As it is expected that secondary battery market will grow rapidly, more than 20% every year, along with the florescence of electric vehicle market around 2020, we will roll up our sleeves to develop innovative material engineering method as well as for material R&D to provide our customers with products of world best quality and competitive price.
